Tyra Leitupo

Talofa lava! My name is Tyra Leitupo. I am a full Samoan born and bred in South Auckland. I hail from the villages of Siumu and Vailoa Aleipata.

What do you study?

I am in my third year studying for a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Pacific Studies and minoring in Politics.  

Why did you choose to be a Sub-Warden at Selwyn?

Personally, this place feels like a home away from home. I love the feeling and the vibe of this place. The people and the environment are inviting and vibrant. I instantly fell in love with this place and the warm feeling it brings.

What do you enjoy about being a Sub-warden?

I enjoy meeting newbies and helping them gain a sense of home and belonging in this place. I know how daunting it can be to move and adapt to a new place (not to mention the pressures of starting university); thus, I enjoy creating a safe and inviting space for residents.  

One fun fact about yourself? 

I've never worked in my life ... being an SW here at Selwyn is my very first job (how cool is that for a first job!).
